2017 Impact Africa Laureates

Ghana on SDGs hosted by the International Perspective for Policy & Governance on November 30, 2017 at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.

The four included Dr. Felix Anya, CEO of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital who received the Health Award and Iyiola Ayoade, CEO of the Multiple Concepts Group who received the Business & Entrepreneurship Award.

Four distinguished personalities received the coveted Impact Africa Awards at the 2017 edition of the Impact Africa Summit:

Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Ghana annexed the Education Award with the Agriculture and Rising Star Award going to David Asiamah, CEO of Agro Mindset Ltd.

The four joins the list of eminent personalities including former President J A Kufuor, Professor Kwesi Yankah, Professor Enyonam Kwawukume, Ms. Farida Beidwei and Mr. Ken Ashigbey to receive the prestigious Impact Africa Summit Award.

 

The Impact Africa Summit on SDGs

The Impact Africa Summit: Ghana on SDGs presents the biggest platform for government officials, senior diplomats, academia, local and international business executives, youth groups, civil society, the media among others, to share ideas and identify strategic means for the implementation and realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ghana.

A key component of the summit is the Impact Africa Awards which is to celebrate and award illustrious sons of the land who have and continues to make a significant impact on the socio – economic development agenda in Ghana in different fields.

The Guest of Honor for second edition of the summit was Professor George Gyan – Baffour, Minister of Planning and Chair of Inter-Ministerial Committee for the SDGs.

Health Award

Dr. Felix Anyah was honored with the 2017 Impact Africa Summit Health Award among others for his meritorious contributions to private healthcare delivery in Ghana as the Founder and CEO of the Holy Trinity Medical Centre and the Holy Trinity Spa in Sogakope.

Leading a new phase of orthodox medical practice in Ghana with his innovative “Integrative Medical Service and Practice”, the Holy Trinity Spa has become a major health tourism destination in the sub region which is vital to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3.

Dr. Anyah has also been an inspiration as a Counselor and Role Model to many young doctors and continues to inspire many others with his high ethical standards, business and success in medical practice.

Business & Entrepreneurship Award

The honor was conferred on Mr. Iyiola Ayoade by the Council of the Summit for his unquestionable impact on the creative arts industry in Ghana through the Multiple Concepts Group and Charter House Ghana.

Spearheading a number of novelties through public entertainment events and media productions in the last 20 years such as Agoro, It takes Two, Guess who is coming for Dinner, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, A Night of 1000 Laughs Series and several others, Mr. Ayoade created a platform for many people to build a career in the arts while advancing the careers of many others.

Education Award

Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann received the Impact Africa Summit Education Award for among others, her outstanding contribution to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana.

Dr. Kaufmann was also honored for the significant role she played as a Member of the Planning and Implementation Committees responsible for establishing the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at the University of Ghana after which she served as the Head of the Faculty for 8 years.

Rising Star & Agriculture Award

David Asiamah received the Rising Start and Agriculture Award as a rising agribusiness mogul in Ghana. David through Agro Mindset, runs an innovative educational incubator which engages young people in practical training to produce a new breed of entrepreneurial-minded farmers and in Ghana which is vital to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2.
